God Acknowledged My Prayer

There are times during the day when the news about this corrupt election gets almost overwhelming. We are treated to taunts from leftists and bitter Republicans dancing on the grave of MAGA folks. Lists are being made of Trump supporters so we can be hunted and oppressed for our views.

It can seem very dark sometimes.

In these dark times it is good to remember that God is always, and has always been, in control. No matter what mankind does, we will never be able to stop God’s perfect plan.

His plan has always been for everyone to have the opportunity to open their hearts to His spirit and love Him. Jesus said: “Love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength” (Luke 10:27). Not everyone will. Most will take the wide path that leads to destruction rather than the narrow path that leads to life. The point is, God ensures we get a choice.

But what about the part of the Lord’s prayer where Jesus said to say: “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven”? Can we not have some of the justice that will come at the judgment, today?

I believe we can. I believe we will.

On Monday, November 9, 2020, I was on my second day of fishing on my favorite river in Iowa to get my mind off the election results. I was fervently praying while I was fishing. It was extremely overcast this Monday morning.

Well, I had beached my kayak and was sitting there finishing my latest prayer, I can't remember exactly what I was praying about, but it was certainly about America, the election, President Trump and the darkness we seemed to be in.

I finished the prayer. Immediately, the clouds parted just enough so the sun shone through directly in front of me. It warmed my face for about a minute and then the clouds covered the sun again.

Wow, what a great moment. God was saying that He heard me and it was going to work out. Now, that doesn't mean God told me Trump will win (although I pray he does). I just know that God acknowledged my prayer in a beautiful and personal way.

Whenever the darkness of those trying to take down America tries to come back, I remember this wonderful event and rejoice.

God is in control. Have faith. Be strong and courageous.
